The Circle has approached the Government for permission to introduce a scheme by which it might collect funds for local charities. The scheme which is suggested is to get printed in England 500,000 label , 1" x 1" in size, which they would ask the Government to use on Customs Manifests, and the Bridge contractor and cinema owners, to use on their tickets, and collect one anna for each label.
His Highness approves of the scheme and has asked me to help in promoting it.
The Bahrain Circle contacted a firm of printers in England, Messrs. Alfred H. Cooper & Sons Ltd., 85, London Wall, E.C.2., who have given a quotation for printing the labels but state that special permission would have to be obtained from the Foreign Office and the Treasury for printing and exporting the labels. A copy of their letter is enclosed.
I should be obliged if you would assist by asking the Foreign Office and the Treasury to grant permission to the firm to print the labels and export them to Bahrain.
The design of the label is with the printers, it represents a ear of wheat and a picture of Manama.
