Dear Sir,

In reply to your letters of reference 85/14/50 and 85/25/50, dealing with
the subject of my request for permission to institute a scheduled service to DAHRAN
in Saudi Arabia, I would be pleased if application may be made on my behalf for the
early inception of the service.

Considerable interest has been shown in the proposed service by many
businessmen and merchants whose work requires their presence in Saudi Arabia,
particularly among those who originate from lower Iraq and Kuwait, who have expressed
their intention to use the service in conjunction with Saudi Arabian Airlines rather
than travel to Jiddah via Cairo. As a link with Saudi Arabian Airlines existing
service to the remainder of that country, there promises to be a more efficient
means of travel than has hitherto existed. There will certainly be increased
employment in both countries as a result of the service, a feature which needs
no laudatory remarks and must be the aim of both Governments, in any event.

A further advantage which would almost certainly be forthcoming from the
service would be the speedier mail link between the two countries, and the greater
ease of access, leading to a larger interchange of commercial ideas which would,
indubitably, increase the trade between the two countries, and between Saudi Arabia
and the rest of the Gulf countries. I feel sure too, that an early result would
be the increased use of Saudi Arabian Airlines for the annual pilgrimage due to the
easier means of entry. Both countries would benefit due to the increased use of
the landing fields, whilst a vital step forward would be taken in bringing two Arab
States nearer in time as well as in ideas.

In consideration of the above, please make application lon my behalf for
this service, as outlined in my letter PA/1/49 of 26/9/49, for a twice-daily
schedule, with permission to increase by not more than twelve return flights
per month in the event of capacity flights at any time during the month.

Your assistance in this matter will be deeply appreciated.

Yours faithfully,

(F. Bosworth)
