vom GULF AVIATION COMPANY, (F. BOSWORTH) Cable Address : THE AERODROME MOHARRAQ, BAHREIN, P.G. 20th March, 1950. Our Ref : PR/1/50/1 Your Ref : H.B.M's Political Resident, The Residency, Jufair, Bahrein, PERSIAN GULF. Dear Sir, Further to the earlier letter of today's date, reference PR/1/50, the following points are put forward to you under separate cover, as reasons why this proposed service to DAHRAN should be regarded favourably from the British or Bahrein points of view. As a dollar-earning service, the schedule stands to produce not less than $10,000.00 per annum, and possibly even double that figure. As is know, the popular currency on the other side is the dollar, and as far as the Aramco employees are con cerned, will without doubt be the currency used. Further, as the service will fit in satisfactorily with my proposal to run a flying school or club, permitting users to fly into Bahrein, fly around and fly out again with a minimum wastage of time, still more dollars will be forthcoming. As a link with B.0.A.C services and the new Cyprus Airways leave scheme, permitting arrival in Bahrein without the tedious and disconcerting bus, boat and taxi rides now necessary before getting onto the connecting aircraft, the service stands a good chance of increasing further the dollar income of the island. I have hesitated to use the first of these points in the past because it has in the past been greatly overworked by others, but there is no disputing the fact that all dollars are welcome, and, indeed, necessary to our economy, and I feel that a guarantee on my part to exchange such earnings as I may make through the official channels and at the official rates will do much to improve the position. Yours faithfully, ( F. Bosworth.)
