Minutes. IRANIAN CLAIM TO BAHRAIN You will, I think, wish to know of a message which the London office of the Agence France Presse have received from their correspondent in Tehran, Monsieur Jean-Jacques Faust, who is a usually reliable journalist. He is said to have reported that Iranian circles are thinking on the lines that, once legislation has been passed including Bahrain within the scope of the new constituencies for the majlis, a firman would be sent to the Ruler of Bahrain appointing him as the representative of the Shah in Bahrain. NOTHING TO BE WRITTEN IN THIS MARGIN. 2. You may perhaps care to inform Sir B. Burrows of this report, for the accuracy of which I cannot, of course, vouch. (W.B.M. Johnston) November 18, 1957.
