The Government of Saudi Arabia has announced that it will
accept bids for the construction of a 1200 kilometer railroad link ing Damascus with Madinaa
This railway project is aimed to stimulate economic exchanges
between Syria and Saudi Arabia and to facilitate pilgrims' travel
to the holy city.
F.A.0. INVESTIGATLS SAUDI CLAIMS OF INEFFECTIVENESS
An official of the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organi zation has been sent to Saudi Arabia to investigate Saudi complaints
of poor and ineffective technical assistance.

LESS CRIMES IN SAUDI ARABIA
Crimes in Saudi Arabia decreased by 40% this year compared to
1954, according to Prince Abdullah el Faisal, the Saudi Arabian Min ister of Interior.
The Minister said that most of these crimes were petty thefts.
ARABIAN OIL FLOW IS STILL SOARING
Crude oil output in Saudi Arabia soared for the second month in
a row during October, topping the million barrel per day mark for the
first time since March, according to figures released at the week-end
by the Arabian American Oil Co.
Production during October at 1,002,442 barrels per day, was well
above the month-ago figure of 959,233 barrels and the year-ago level
of 961,481 barrels per day.
Despite the sharp increase, October output held well below the
record level of 1,026,791 barrels produced in May, 1954, and also
held below the high for 1955 of 1,017,352 barreis per day produced
last March,
Refinery runs at Ras Tanura averaged 203,281 barrels per day
during October, up from 192,512 barrels in September, but down from
214,790 barrels per day in October, 1954,
