R EIVED IN RCHIVES No.39 12 FEB 1963 CONFIDENTIAL FROM BELGRADE TO FOREIGN OFFICE Cypher/OTP Sir M. Creswell D. 10.23 a.m. February 12, 1963 R. 10.36 a.n. February 12, 1963 No. 52 February 12, 1963 PRIORITY CONFIDENTIAL Addressed to Kuwait telegram No. 1 of February 12, Repeated for information to : Bahrain Beirut 79 to Fa--B Dubai Foreign Office. Your telegram No. 5 to Dubai. I am advised that Elektrosond is a technically sound firm which has carried out other operations abroad. There are, however, obvious political risks in letting a concession to a Yugoslav firm. With the present orientation of Yugoslav foreign policy the authorities here would be alert for the opportunity of political penetration. If they found such an opportunity their influence might be (grp. undec.] in a pro-Soviet or perhaps pro-Nasser direction, but it would certainly be unfavourable to the interests of Her Majesty's Government. Foreign Office pass Bahrain 1, Beirut 1, Dubai 1. [Repeated as requested.] DISTRIBUTED TO: Arabian Department Economic Relations Department Central Department. CONFIDENTIAL
