In case you have not already heard, I am writing to let you know about a proposed visit by members of the American Central Intelligence Agency, | both of the Office of National Estimates in the C.I.A. will arrive in Kuwait on February 4 trom Cyprus (where he tells me that he will be ataying with Geoffrey McDarmott) and will leave Kuwait to arrive in Bahrain late at night (11.25) on Babrary 5. will arrive in Bahrain on February 5 or possibly on the evening of February 4. Both he and I will leave for Aden on Pebruary 8. 3. and I already has visas for Kuwait and Bahrain, Tor Bahrain. 4. I have checked that their accommodation problems have already been looked after. said that in Bahrain he would be staying with the United States Naval Commander. In Kuwait, hia accommodation is being looked after by the United States Consul. 5. They are anxious that they should be able to talk to members of the Residency in Bahrain and of the Agency in Kuwait; I said that of course this would be perfectly straightforward. 6. Both of them are on the overt side of C.I.A. I an tola, 19 of the Counsellor/First Secretary level, but I do not know about told me that he was only going in order to try to get some idea of conditions in the area, which at present he knows very little about.
