I have the honour to refer to Sir F.H. Humphrys!

despatch No.610 of the 25th of June regarding the

ratification of the Anglo-Iraqi Treaty of Extradition, and

to inform you that the Treaty was laid before Parliament

on the 12th of July.

In order to conform to the present

practice of His Majesty's Government it will be necessary

that the Treaty should lie before Parliament for twenty-one

days during which Parliament is sitting.

As both Houses of

Parliament have now risen for the summer recess, it will not

be possible to advise His Majesty to ratify the Treaty

until some time during the autumn of this year.
