Statement of 'Ali Aba al-Rus
[6 December 1954]
1. About thirty-six or thirty-seven years ago I, 'Ali Aba al-Rus,went from Hasa with a detachment of men led by Su'ayyid Al Faisaland sent by Amir 'Abd Allah ibn Jiluwi. When we reached al-Khatamwe heard that Zahir ibn Qadh'an al-'Arjani, a murderer [was there].Amir ‘Abd Allah ibn Jiluwi was looking for him, and we found himwith the Manasir and captured him. Su'ayyid Al Faisal was goingahead of us to Buraimi. After we joined him in Buraimi he took Zahiribn Qadh'an from us and imprisoned him in Sultân's jail. After he hadspent two days in the jail, Su'ayyid Al Faisal took him out into themarket place of Buraimi and executed him.
2. We collected the zakah from Nu'aim and Al Bu Shamis. As forNu'aim, their animals were few in number. He [Su‘ayyid] asked alSalf [of Nu'aim] for the [zakah] and they gave him his zakah and thezakah of his people. As for Al Bu Shamis, we collected the zakah dueon what animals they had.
3. We spent about six months with Su'ayyid Al Faisal and wentfrom Buraimi with seventy-six riding-camels as gifts from all theBedouins: Nu'aim, Al Bu Shamis, Bani Kitab [Qitab], Bani Ka'b, theBalush, the southern [people of] Bani Kitab [Qitab], Nu'aim [sic], theKhawatir, the Ghafalah, and (others] of the people of the land in theneighborhood of Buraimi.
4. Su'ayyid sent me ['Ali Aba al-Rus] and Saif al-Qarmawi [alQarawi] to 'Ibri to look for a she-camel that had been taken by Abaal-War' al-'Ifari from Al Bu Shamis. We overtook him in the town of'Ibri and recovered the she-camel from him and returned it to itsowners, Al Bu Shamis.
5. I, 'Ali Aba al-Rus, whose age is about seventy years, and I, Sa'idibn Mubarak, whose age is about fifty years, and both of whom are
