2853 Pte HABIB TAJ MOIIAMMAD of The Independent
Guard Company, SAF, duly sworn states:
I mounted with the Prisoners Guard at
BAIT AL FALAJ at 0700 hrs 23 Feb. Cpl SULEIMAN
was guard commander. I was escort to the prisoner
POTTAMMAD TAHER when he was taken to the house
of a British Captain about 1000 hours. At the
house che guard commander and the prisoner went
inside. I was relieved at noon. At about 1630 hrs
I was called into the Captain's room. I don't know
his nanc but I can recognise him. The Captain
(accused) went away from 1630 hrs to 1800 hrs. During
this time I was in accused's room with the prisoner.
He stood all the time. He seemed well. When on
duty outside accused's roon at about 2200 hours I
was again called in. Cpl STILLIMAN was already inside.
I saw Cpl SULEIMAN shaving the prisoner's head with
something given to him by accused. Then accused
poured something from a bottle on to the prisoner's
head. Then I saw accused and the prisoner go
into the bathroom. When they came out accused ordered
no to take the prisoner outside for 5 minutes so that
he should stand in the rain. He was dressed only
in a bed-sheet wuzza. After 5 minutes I returned
tlie prisoner to accused, and I was relieved by
another escort. When I came on duty again at 0400
hrs 24 Feb I again went into accused's room. I
saw the prisoner sitting on the floor. He was still
dressed only in a bed-sheet. He was writing. I
noticed that he had a piece of sticking plaster across
his neck; blood was coming through.
