This file contains correspondence relating to:
- Points for discussion during the Political Resident's visit to the Foreign Office, particularly regarding British commercial activities in the Trucial States. It also contains correspondence regarding the struggles of Engineering Project Limited to raise capital for the electricity supply they are under contract to supply in Abu Dhabi and whether it is appropriate for the Export Credits Guarantee Department to assist them (1)
- Suggestion, made by the Council for Middle East Trade (COMET), that in order to ensure that British construction and engineering interests receive a fair share of the development work planned for Abu Dhabi, a consortium of firms be formed and a representative appointed to serve their interests, who would be based permanently or semi-permanently in Abu Dhabi (2-3)
- Proposal that a group of Abu Dhabi merchants be invited to visit the UK in the summer of 1964 (4)
- New proposal for a representative of engineering and constructional interests to reside in Bahrain and to visit Abu Dhabi one week in every month in order to cultivate relations with Sheikh Shakhbut Bin Sultan Al Nahyan and report on possibilities (5)
