FO 371/140215 1959Description
This file contains correspondence relating to:
- Sultan Saeed Bin Taimur's subscription to those parts of the BBC Summary of World Broadcasts dealing with the Middle East (1)
- Idea of providing more information on Muscat and Oman to the BBC as a means of countering information emanating from Cairo Radio. It also discusses the Sultan's objection to publicity of any sort and the expectation that there will be a further rebel outbreak in the coming months (2)
- Kind of information the BBC would like to receive and the Sultan's visit to the BBC Arabic Service to get an idea of what would be involved in setting up a Muscat broadcasting service. This will be an ideal vehicle for the BBC to quote, but the Sultan wants no music (3)
- Type of information that should be shared and the means of doing so (4)
