(EA 1948/2) RESTRICTED FOREIGN OFFICE, S.W.1. June 3, 1957. Dear Consulate-General, Your telegram No. 12 of May 31 about Shaikh Hazza and his party. If the Shaikh's sailing on June 5 is confirmed it means that he will arrive here on June 10 - a public holiday. Government offices here begin the holiday on Friday June 7. 3. In the circumstances, if we are to be responsible for arrangements it will be most difficult, if not impossible, to ensure that adequate arrangements are made to meet the party, or for us to safeguard against the embarrassments of last minute changes. 44 It can hardly of course be suggested that the Shaikh should change his plans at this late hour, but we should be grateful if you could make sure that he understands the difficulties. We note that you have not asked us to reserve accommodation. Yours ever, EASTERN DEPARTMENT. British Consulate-General, New York.
