has therefore also been instructed to assure the Saudi Representative
in Cairo privately of Iraq's sympathy for Saudi Arabia and
support for her.

3. It is clear that the Iraqis are counting on a speedy end
of hostilities in Oman to rescue them from the ambiguous
position into which they are now getting themselves.
