Oil concessions in Muscat and Oman p.39

FO 371/120647 1956
BRITISH CONSULATE

DUSCAT
June 26, 1956.

Please refer to paragraph 2 of your letter 110.533/4/36/56
of June 12 to Samuel, on the subject of Dhofar cities Service boundary
with P.D.(0) Ita.

The Sultan told me that it is definitely fixed from chim
area (point 20% *5592) to larta and Taxta to Ras inji. the latter
sectiva depending on correotions to conform with tribal holdings and
would require a visit to the ground the cities Service concession does

not in any case go wear this boundary. Lindsey has, however, suggested
that it should be taken for the present as a straight line subject to
alteration in the 11.ght of faller examination, and the S3 tan has asked
him to drait souething accordingly for his consideration. In other
words the position would seem to be precisely as in my letter No.
58/9/55 of March 21, 1955 to the Political Resident, but w33 be defined
by an exchange of letters between the sultan and the Company. There
should, therefore, be no difficulty for the Company's operation in this
area, if they desire to carry them out at any time.

I understand Landsay is preparing the arat.
I am sending a copy of this to Eastern Departments
