Land and sea boundaries of Trucial Sheikhdoms in Persian Gulf
FO 371/114648 1955Description
This file contains correspondence relating to:
- Outgoing Political Agent in the Trucial States C M Pirie-Gordon's impending final report, which will contain definite proposals for coastal boundaries. For several reasons, Britain is eager for decisions to be announced as soon as possible, but mindful of its implications for the Buraimi arbitration (1-4)
- Report [enclosed] on the internal frontiers of the Trucial States, compiled by the Assistant Political Agent at Dubai J F Walker. It examines 36 areas and contains 12 appendices. One reason for the report's creation was pressure from the oil companies for delimitation of the frontiers (5-6)
- Question of delaying Walker's leave until announcements have been made (7)
- Second edition of the report [not enclosed] because of mistakes in the maps (8)
- Advantages and disadvantages of confirming some or all of the Trucial States' boundaries (9)
