FCO 8/586 1967-1968
Description

  • The Sultan’s construction of a fort in the frontier locality of Habarut, to assert his sovereignty in the area and contain Dhofari rebels
  • Question of deploying RAF and British troop detachments around Salalah in a support role
  • Report from Voice of the Arabs expressing support for the Dhofar Liberation Front (DLF) and alleging that British troops have moved into Habarut to threaten South Yemen and create tribal unrest
  • Negotiations with the new South Yemeni authorities concerning the new state’s borders
  • Documents detailing historical agreements on the borders of Aden, requested by the South Yemeni National Liberation Front (NLF) order to establish the international boundaries of the new state
