MECHANICS !!!

Do you feel all screwed up? Is life at Bahrain getting you nowhere? Do you

have that three hundred and sixty one degrees under feeling? Then try
PARTTWOSCIENCE because

Sydney, the America of Australia, impresses with its huge size. Towering
over the harbour is the magnificent single span bridge, and a wearisome trip
the top of the look-out pylon reveals a wonderful view of a vast and sprawions
conurbation, which belies the fact that only a hundred or so miles away lies the
outback. The outback, sparsely populated, barren and heartbreaking to many
who for years have tried to conquer its challenge. Yet in this desert has grown
Woomera, surely the most underrated of two and a half year tours. Existing on
water piped many miles from the River Murray, this self-contained community
lives a normal life around its work, and the development of this town around
the famous range is one of remarkable progress even in this age of scientific
miracles. It is gratifying to know that at last, that famous launching pad which
every V.I.P. and many other visitors were proudly shown is to be put to use.

So onto the other main country of the Antipodes – New Zealand.
Dwarfed in size by its near neighbour, but as much English in its way of life as
many parts of Australia are American. From a scenic standpoint, the two
Islands stand out with many varied types of beauty to be admired. The magni ficent snow-capped mountains of South Island; the Canterbury Plains, lifeblood
of the large agricultural industry. The large belts of Forestland in North Island
fast becoming a main contributor to the New Zealand economy. But most of all,
the awe-inspiring valleys and caves of the Thermal wonderland. Situated on a
volcanic fault line, thousands of tourists gaze each year in wonderment at the
steam issuing forth from the earth. It seemed somewhat a matter for regret that
this natural phenomenon is slowly being harnessed to provide hydro-electric
power. Its two main cities, Auckland easily the largest, but owing to its northerly
situation giving pride of place as capital to Wellington, surely the hilliest city in
the Commonwealth, are pleasantly situated by the sea, without giving the
appearance of size, or equalling the hustle of Melbourne and Sydney.

Sunshine certificates will be issued twice yearly to the most popular and
consistent consumers. Furthermore, production of these certificates can win for
you (but, regrettably, not for your family) a holiday of up to one year at one
of the following top holiday resorts.

BLACKPOOL (Our self contained chalets are three minutes from the
sea at nearby WEETON)

WESTON-SUPER-MARE (Its really super here seen from LUXURI OUS LOCKING)

BATH (Live in Regency style at marvellous Melksham)

DEVON, GLORIOUS DEVON (Let Mountbatten be your heaven)

But then it is over, and all you are left with is the trip home, never
possessing the same interest as the outward journey, except that Singapore was
still hot and humid, and your memories. Memories of wonderful places with
Adelaide still the "Queen". But far more, memories of people, slightly different
in outlook to us, but this is all to the good. The Australian, rough and ready,
but with a fierce pride in the country he has helped to build. The New Zealander,
less rugged and more aware of his British heritage, but again proud to be
participating in the development of a country, which it must be remembered
has a history only as far back as many Britishers trace their ancestry. The Comet
speeds on across the world back to the shores of England. The customs are
appeased; the train still goes to Paddington, and you are home. The tour which
began some two and three-quarters years ago in Sussex is over. But, happily, the
memories remain.

CALNE (Our camp at Yatesbury is putting this quiet resort on the
map - almost)

Remember, sufferers, the key to your carefree holiday at any of the
premier resorts listed above can be yours ONLY upon the production of your
sunshine certificate — awarded for consistent consumption of repeated doses of
PARTTWOSCIENCE (the mechanics' elixir).
